The Route

Route diagrams show the shape and direction of each day. They are not for navigation - the roadbook is issued to competitors before the event.

The route changes every year. For 2027 it runs west along the coast, turns inland through the Grampians and the goldfields, and finishes in Melbourne.
Day 1 · Monday 1 March

Werribee Park to Torquay

The event begins on Monday 1 March at 1.00pm as cars depart Werribee Park and head for the Surf Coast.

HighlightsFast, flowing inland roads out to the coast as crews settle into a rhythm. The day finishes at The Sands in Torquay.
Day 2 · Tuesday 2 March

Great Ocean Road & Otways

We leave Torquay and head west along the Great Ocean Road, up into the Otways and back down to the coast at the Twelve Apostles.

HighlightsCliffside curves along the coast, then tighter, technical sections through the forest of the Otway Ranges. The day ends at Lake Pertobe in Warrnambool.
Day 3 · Wednesday 3 March

Warrnambool to Creswick

We leave the coast and climb into the Grampians, then turn east to the goldfields.

HighlightsThrough Dunkeld and up into the Grampians, rock faces above the road, then quiet country roads east through Clunes to Creswick for the night.
Day 4 · Thursday 4 March

Creswick to Melbourne

The final leg heads north into Central Victoria first, through Clunes, Maryborough, Maldon and Castlemaine, before turning for Hanging Rock and the Macedon Ranges.

HighlightsOpen country roads and the last precision sections, which decide the final results. The event finishes in Melbourne on Thursday afternoon.
